W04 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal
I think the habit that is most meaningful to me is the last one “Sharpen the Saw". I like all the other habits but this one seems to be the most prevalent in my life right now. I am definitely in the thick of it with this habit. I know it should be continually done, but I feel like this time in my life I have been sharpening my saw a lot more. I am going through school trying to complete my bachelor’s degree. I am constantly learning new skills and trades at work. I am attending therapy to help out emotionally. I am working hard to be more consistent spiritually by attending the temple more often and attending church more purposefully. I think the only thing that I am not sharpening as much as I should be is my physical health. I am having a hard time finding the time for this one. I like this habit because I am big into bettering myself and finding ways to improve in all of these categories. I think it is important to learn to be a lifetime learner and improver of one’s self. I know it is hard work, but if you consistently work at it you will get to where you want to be. I think doing this habit helps all the other habits as well. It lays down the foundation for living a more purposeful life and builds the character you need to fulfill the other habits.
The 7 Habits will help fill my life with passion and purpose as I seek to achieve a private and public victory.
As I focus on being proactive and taking responsibility for my actions and behaviors, I will have more passion and purpose in my life. I can focus on what I can control which helps me not get distracted by the things that don’t matter. I can identify my purpose and efforts towards living a meaningful life.
As I focus on beginning with the end in mind, I can find purpose in my life by clearly identifying where I want to end up. Having the end goal in mind will allow me to create smaller goals to help me achieve my ultimate goal. I think it also helps with your integrity. I can make sure my daily actions align with my end goal resulting in higher integrity and character.
As I focus on prioritizing and putting first things first, I will know exactly what I should be doing at all times. I don’t necessarily need to focus on the urgent matters but what matters most.
If I can do all three of the habits, I can have those private victories I am looking for in life.
As I focus on finding ways to win-win my life will have more meaning because I won’t be self-centered and I will look at every opportunity with a focus on making sure everyone is taken care of. I will be able to build better relationships with others and find meaning in life.
As I focus on seeking to understand, my life will gain meaning because I will have more meaningful conversations with those I come in contact with. I know I will listen more and get more value out of conversations. Not only will I have more value in conversations but I will gain respect from my peers. Everyone wants to be listened to, I can fulfill that need in every conversation.
As I focus on synergizing, I can have more meaning in life because I will be able to have more meaningful relationships with others. I can highlight their strengths and accomplish more with the help of others.
By mastering these three habits I will have many public victories with my peers and help build people up.
It’s one thing to say you will master these habits and it’s another to put them into practice. I know by making these habits a part of who I am, I will be successful in all aspects of life.
