W05 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal This week was awesome regarding what I learned. I had an incredible experience interviewing a friend of mine and learning about how he runs his Thai restaurant. I learned very great lessons from this and also gained a mentor in the process. Joel taught me the importance of creativity in a business. Not just in design, but in finances and how a business is run. He taught me that there are many ups and downs to owning a restaurant but overall, it is a rewarding experience. He taught me that it is important to build good relationships, having people that are available to help you with your business is invaluable. Ultimately, talking with Joel gave me confidence that starting a business is not only possible but can be a successful experience if you are out in the work. W04 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal I think the habit that is most meaningful to me is the last one “Sharpen the Saw".  I like all the other habits but this one seems to be the most prevalent in my life right now. I am definitely in the thick of it with this habit. I know it should be continually done, but I feel like this time in my life I have been sharpening my saw a lot more. I am going through school trying to complete my bachelor’s degree. I am constantly learning new skills and trades at work. I am attending therapy to help out emotionally. I am working hard to be more consistent spiritually by attending the temple more often and attending church more purposefully. I think the only thing that I am not sharpening as much as I should be is my physical health. I am having a hard time finding the time for this one. W03 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal Key Takeaways from “A Hero’s Journey”  I enjoyed watching the video “A Heroes Journey”. There were a lot of things that stood out to me. It is important to believe that everyone has a special mission on earth. This mission will succeed beyond your wildest dreams if you have the faith and courage to find your entrepreneurial calling. This is sometimes hard for me to believe as I go through my day-to-day feeling inadequate and mediocre. I know I haven’t found my calling yet, but I know that it is out there. I need to take the steps necessary to figure out what it is and pursue it with everything I have. I have always believed God has great plans for my life but I have had a hard time figuring out what it is.  The next thing that stood out to me was when he said “The hero’s journey is all about you, but it’s not about you at all.” I never thought that my calling had nothing to do with me. W02 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal This week was full of learning and growth. I have learned a lot about myself and who I want to become.  I loved learning from Elder Lynn G Robbins about the grades for making a living and a life. Grade A's primary motivation is to love God and fellow men. That is where we should be when making a living and a life. We never want our primary motivation to fall to money, the love of money, or filthy lucre. If we put God and others first Heavenly Father will take care of us.  My favorite part of this week's study was learning about the three circles created by Jim Collins. He taught that to be successful we need to find what we are good at, born to do, and what people will pay us to do. Most people, (including myself) have a hard time finding what we are born to do. He gave great advice to start a journal about yourself of when you are happiest or are in a flow state. When you are thriving in a situation it will give you the information need...

W01 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal Randy Pausch Childhood Dreams Reflection Randy Pausch had six childhood dreams growing up.  1. Winning the biggest stuffed animal at amusement parks 2. Writing an entry in the World Book Encyclopedia 3. Playing in the NFL 4. Being Captain Kirk of Star Trek 5. Experiencing zero gravity 6. Becoming an "Imagineer" at Disney.  Although Randy was not able to technically achieve all his childhood dreams, he was able to achieve a lot of them and a life full of meaning. I believe this was possible because of his overall attitude in life. An example of this is in his lecture titled " Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture: Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams". He says "We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand." Randy is a great example of what it means to be optimistic and resilient.
